Quantum's current work in the AMD area includes the following (Customer is in brackets): |
| BALLISTIC MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM (BMDS) SUPPORT: Providing Army AMD and communications systems expertise to MDA BC (BMC3). Assisting in the tracking of acquisition issues relating to Army systems by interacting with Army combat and material developers and researching and documenting systems capabilities. Updating the Army systems section of MDA’s Integrated Systems Specification (ISS), and supporting system concept definition and development for the objective BMD BMC3 system. [MDA] |
| QUICK RESPONSE MISSILE DEFENSE (MD) ARCHITECTURE STUDIES: Supporting the MDA Chief Architect in quick-reaction MD architecture studies. Examples include the Exhaustion/Saturation Analyses for Japan and Taiwan, Taiwan Early Warning Radar, High Speed Targets, Upper Tier Strategy, and NATO NMD studies. [MDA] |
| AMD INTEROPERABILITY ANALYSIS SUPPORT: Leading the integration task force that is assigning program data requirements to the appropriate Variable Message Format (VMF), US Message Text Format (USMTF) and Link 16 standard as outlined in the Joint Technical Architecture. Work supports change requests for the message standards to allow for full implementation of user requirements. Developing the AMD Data Implementation Roadmap to define AMD functionality by system, by date, and by force structure. [PEO AMD] |
| AMD IN ARMY TRANSFORMATION: Supporting definition of the AMD contribution to the Initial Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) and Interim Division (IDIV) organizations. Developing, reviewing, and refining organizational structures, function lists, operational concepts and Operational and Organizational (O&O) Plans for the IBCT's Air Defense/Airspace Management (ADAM) Cell and the evolving AMD battalion/battery to be included in the IDIV. [USAADASCH] |
| ARMY AMD “PLUG AND FIGHT” OPERATIONAL CONCEPT: Assisting in the development and staffing of the "Plug and Fight" concept for AMD operations, which is the cornerstone of the transformation of AMD forces from employment of current legacy systems to the use of fully interchangeable AMD components in the objective force. Analyzing the emerging threat to determine AMD capabilities needed to protect the force in joint theater operations while minimizing the requirements for strategic transport. [USAADASCH] |
| THAAD ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING DEVELOPMENT (EMD) SERVICES: Providing engineering services to Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company – Missiles and Space Operations (LMSSC-MSO) for the Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Weapon Systems Engineering Segment during the engineering, manufacturing and development phase, to include THAAD Interoperability, Cooperative Engagement Capability/Joint Composite Tracking Network (CEC/JCTN), and System Data Modeling. Developing and documenting the TAMD CEC/JCTN concept for THAAD. [LMSSC-MSO] |
|
TRADOC SYSTEM MANAGER – THEATER MISSILE DEFENSE (TSM-TMD) SUPPORT: Providing technical support in the areas of THAAD software/hardware, logistics, and software support. TECHNICAL
SUPPORT TO THE SENTINEL PRODUCT OFFICE:
Provided technical and analytical support to the
SENTINEL Product Office modernization effort by analyzing recent
evolution of Army warfighting architectures, including the medium
brigade and updated plug-and-fight concepts, to ensure that the
SENTINEL radar system is positioned to support the Army’s out-year
vision for Air Defense. Conducted
a study assessing the capability of current models and simulations to
provide insight on what benefits accrue to the Air Defense community
by improving the SENTINEL system.
Task included a rigorous review of SENTINEL modeling and
simulation, detailed research on SENTINEL Air Defense CONOPS, and
production of a report on the findings and recommendations. [SENTINEL
